Q. How much does a delivery cost? Our delivery quotation provides a comprehensive breakdown of costs, and lets you know exactly what is included.
Q. Who will do the delivery? We only appoint highly experienced, qualified and professional skippers (commercially endorsed Yachtmaster Ocean as a minimum). At least one crew member will also be a qualified and capable skipper. The skippers and crews CV will be sent to you.
Q. Who Chooses the Route? The skipper will liaise with you to talk through the route details. Many factors, such as the type of vessel and prevailing weather patterns are considered. We will advise you regularly on the progress of the delivery, and welcome your contact at any time.
Q. Does the boat need to be insured? Yes, your yacht will need to have cover for the proposed passage. Most owners already carry insurance on their boats, so this is typically not an issue. For your peace of mind Halcyon Yachts Ltd also carries £3,000,000 of comprehensive yacht delivery insurance and all of our skippers have their own personal liability cover.
Q. Does my boat need to be ready for the delivery? Your boat should be seaworthy and suitable for the intended voyage. Upon arrival the skipper will do a complete inspection of your boat. Any issues that will affect the departure will be addressed. All safety equipment should be on board and in date.
Q. Do you deliver power and sail? We have qualified and experienced skippers able to deliver both sail and power vessels.
Q. How is payment made? In order to schedule a delivery we require an initial deposit of 10% along with a signed contract. 50% of the estimated delivery fee plus an expenses budget is required 30 days before the proposed delivery date. The balance of the delivery plus any outstanding expenses is due immediately on completion of the delivery.
Q. Are there additional costs for delays? Additional delay days will be charged if for reasons outside of the skippers’ control the journey cannot continue. For example, if the vessel is not able to sail due to its condition or seaworthiness. We do not charge for delays caused by the weather.
Q. As the owner, can I come along? You are always welcome to come along. If it’s a new yacht, then it could be a good time to learn about your new vessel. Many of our skippers are Yachtmaster Instructors, so no better opportunity to fine tune your skills.
